Try a high-five instead? Seriously, it's a connection problem. For me it just goes away when I try again. If it doesn't, something is likely wrong with your internet connection.

Restart the game. If it doesn't work, restart your computer, that should fix the problem. Also, account sharing is against the EULA.

There is a hotkey you can bind to toggle this function in the key bindings menu. The name escapes me right now, but it's pretty obvious. I believe the default is C, but I rebound it a long time ago so I might be wrong.

I have found a workaround that seems to be working for now: don't jump at the exact same moment as the fleet. Wait 10-15 seconds after the jump command is issued, and then jump yourself. So far I didn't have the problem since I started doing that.
